Grey wave washes away all opposition

he Ballito United Football Club (BUFC) boys in grey did not disappoint over the weekend, with the senior team once again running amok in the opposition’s goals.

Sunday’s matches at Ashton marked the mid-way point in the 2018 Season, with five of the BUFC teams on top of their respective logs.

In the big game of the day, the first team went up against Bayview and cruised to a crushing 12-0 victory.

Captain Thabiso (Sbu) Yalu again exerted total control over the midfield, with the boys from Bayview unable to move without him having his say.

Meanwhile the team’s defense held rock solid, leaving little for the goalie to do. On the attack BUFC were like an unstoppable grey wave, finding gaps out wide with nearly every movement and running circles around a hapless Bayview defense.

Forward Luthando Mpunzana was again at the top of his game, penetrating the Bayview defence with laughable ease. In fairness to the opposition though, the furious determination on Mpunzana’s face as he barrels down on his opponants at full stretch is enough to make even the hardiest of players decide to just let him have his way.

Soon the Bayview team was in full collapse and the grey wave just kept on rolling in, finding the net time and again for a more than comfortable victory.

In the other matches of the day, the U8 team gave Virginia a 5-1 walloping while the U9 lads eked out a 1-0 win. A strong U10 BUFC side steamrolled Juventes 6-0 while the U10 boys were held to a 1-1 stalemate by the same team.

In the senior games, the U13 lads put on a good showing to send the Stella team home licking their wounds after a 5-1 loss to the rampant boys in grey. The U15B lads fought their hearts out but were unable to get the better of a strategically stronger Toti side, who won 5-2.

And, of course, the U15A boys who absolutely hammered their opponents 12-0.
